He’s done this on entire planets! One of the known places he experimented on is the planet Larose, where he turned all the people into apes. If you’ve heard of the character Rappa, she’s actually one of his past experiments and went through a lot because of him.
What’s Dr. Primitive’s Goal in HSR?
Dr. Primitive is on a mission to carry out his crazy experiments across different worlds. This makes him a massive threat in the Star Rail universe. He wants to make humanity “better” by turning it into something primitive, which most people would say is just straight-up evil. And since he thinks humanity is broken and not worth saving, he’s fine with doing terrible things to anyone who gets in his way.
His main followers, who call themselves the AtaviSearch Forest faction, are a group of scientists. They share his views and carry out experiments without any sense of right or wrong. They’re divided into different groups, or “Forests,” each focusing on specific tasks like gene editing, abduction, and making drugs for experiments.

In the latest HSR 2.6 update, we also meet Mr. Reca, an eccentric director and professor who helps the Trailblazers find Dr. Primitive. Mr. Reca drops hints to the characters about where they might find Dr. Primitive. This means the game is probably building up to a big showdown between Dr. Primitive, the Galaxy Rangers, and possibly even the main characters in the future.
Will Dr. Primitive Become Playable in Honkai Star Rail?
For now, Dr. Primitive seems too evil to be a playable character. Unlike some other villains in the game, he hasn’t shown any signs of changing his ways or having a softer side. So, it’s unlikely he’ll join the roster anytime soon. But he will definitely play a big role in the upcoming missions.
