Honkai: Star Rail has grown enormously since its launch early last year. However, the core team has remained more or less the same. Teams still almost always have one DPS, one sustain, and two support characters. Barring DOT teams, largely ignored since the release of Black Swan, and Pure Fiction, which usually sports two DPS units, this pattern has maintained itself over time
Today, we will be ranking the top 10 DPS characters in Honkai Star Rail that should find a spot on your team.
Top 10 DPS Characters in Honkai Star Rail
Jade and Kafka
Jade and Kafka share a number on this list of top DPS characters in Honkai Star Rail because they have tremendous potential but their niche uses have clouded it.
Kafka is the best enabler for DOT teams, but her talents are stifled because of lack of teammates. Jade, on the other hand, can make it to Pure Fiction-focused teams with options like The Herta.
Imbibitor Lunae
Lunae was top of the class when he was released. But these days, he has slid back a bit, even though he can deal lots of damage. Two reasons exist for this. One, the meta is going away with him and two, he is seriously clunky.
Lunae’s most powerful attack consume three skill points, so to make the best use of him and yet not sacrifice the entire team, having someone like Sparkle is essential, or at least a good Harmony unit that can generate extra skill points. The only other option is if he uses his ultimate to gain free skill points. Without these measures, Lunae would be more trouble than help.

Rappa
Rappa is a little out of her league of Break teams. These teams are generally really strong, and while Rappa’s kit is flashly and useful, it does not match up to those of her rivals. For a Pure Fiction team, she can be a good option.
Given that she is the only Break DPS without a weakness implant, unless a battle has enemies that succumb to Imaginary, Rappa is only going to get in the way. Her chances went up with the release of Tingyun Fugue who’ll lend her some toughness ignore, but we don’t see her overtaking Boothill and Firefly.
Dr Ratio
As a DPS character in Honkai Star Rail, Dr Ratio is a pleasant surprise for a free giveaway player. As a follow-up attack DPS, his skills could even give those of Feixiao a run for their money. Dr Ratio is easy to build and can wipe out most content in Honkai: Star Rail.
But the comrades that Dr Ratio runs best with pose a problem for the budget-conscious. Topaz, Robin, and Aventurine don’t go the easiest on the wallet. While there are other 4-star replacements available, you’d notice the difference in gameplay immediately.
Boothill
For being the first Break DPS added to Honkai: Star Rail, Boothill delivers quite the punch with the same Break team units and high scaling overall damage. But just like Rappa, he requires like enemies to succumb to Physical to unleash his full potential. That’s why he trails behind Firefly, even though his ultimate can inflict Physical weakness.
Jing Yuan
At the onset, Jing Yuan was simply the guy with great hair, all show and no go. But with release of characters like Robin, Sunday, and Sparkle, he has been receiving indirect buffs that raise his level.
So basically, any support units that work to increase the abilities, damage, or speed of summons of a Remembrance unit would do the trick for Jing Yuan too. Of course, we are not saying that this would make him a top-tier character.
Yunli
Yunli’s thunder was stolen by Feixiao’s quick release after her, but that was a mistake. This counterattack specialist can do serious damage with her scaling stats and yet is simple to build. Also, her team need not be so expensive to be effective, a great perk for units battling Physical weak enemies.
But Yunli struggles with consistency, in that most of her damage is from when an attack is countered. In such situations, her signature Light Cone is vital. Without this, perhaps we can use Lynx as a temporary solution, but this will pull Yunli’s true potential down a lot.
Acheron
With the right teammates and when built correctly, Acheron’s damage potential is surprisingly large, even though she has lost the top spot. However, her kit can prove detrimental to fellow teammates when she was to show all her cards. Two Nihility characters are needed for maximum ultimate damage, without the second Eidolon. But if we want a Harmony support, we’ll need to dump of this. Acheron’s best Nihility support is Jiaoqiu.

Feixiao
Feixiao is the best of both worlds: easy on the budget and hard on her enemies. She was the probably the most anticipated DPS unit of the 2.0 updates and she hasn’t let fans down. Her follow-ups and flexible ultimate can dish out incredible damage. At the same time, she can be built easily, has great Light Cone options, and easy-on-the-wallet teams. Topaz, Robin, and Aventurine are some of best teammates around Feixiao. If you have Feixiao, you have a safety net for the foreseeable future.
Firefly
Firefly is at the top of this list and with good reason. Her kit is beats all other DPS units’ by a large margon. She can easily implement Fire Weakness onto enemies and deliver the maximum Super Break damage among the three options.
Firefly is great team player too. Lingsha’s Fire element was almost made to work with Firefly, and the same goes for Gallagher. Tingyun Fugue is not so compatible as the last two, but she can work as a mini DPS too. Because of this, Firefly can maximize her Super Break damage.
Well, most of the DPS characters in Honkai Star Rail released till date can be used in battle and be effective in some small way or another. Only a few units, like Blade and Seele, have become completely unavailable.
But do remember that this list of 10 best DPS characters in Honkai Star Rail is based on writer’s choice, and you list can entirely differ from this one.
